Highly Skilled Workforce Scholarships at University of Edinburgh, UK 2017-2018


The University of Edinburgh is offering highly Skilled Workforce Scholarship for students starting full-time or part-time master’s programmes. The scholarship is available to UK nationals who are permanently domiciled in Scotland, as well as EU nationals (excluding UK nationals) domiciled in EU or Scotland but not elsewhere in the UK.

The aim of the university is to provide a single point of contact for prospective and enrolled students in finding the financial help and information they need in order to pursue their education.

The University of Edinburgh is the sixth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland’s ancient universities.

The University accepts all of the English language qualifications listed i.e. IELTS; TOEFL; PTE; CAE; CPE as well as Trinity ISE Trinity Integrated Skills in English.

Course Level: The scholarship is available for full-time or part-time Master’s degree programme.

Study Subject: The scholarship is awarded to the College of Humanities and Social Science and College of Science and Engineering.

List of subjects: Accounting and Finance, Banking and Risk, Carbon Finance, Energy Finance and Markets, Learning for Sustainability,  Management of Bioeconomy, Innovation and Governance, Outdoor Education, Outdoor Environmental and Sustainability Education, Science and Technology in Society, Research Science and Technology Studies, Biochemistry,  Bioinformatics, Biotechnology,  Carbon Capture and Storage,Carbon Management, Computational Mathematical Finance, Drug Discovery and Translation Biology, Ecosystem Services,  Environmental Protection and Management, Financial Modelling and Optimization, Geographical Information Science, High Performance Computing, High Performance Computing with Data Science,  Marine Systems and Policies, Mathematical Physics, Medicinal and Biological Chemistry, Next Generation Drug Discovery (including online distance learning),Operational Research, Operational Research with Computational Optimization,  Operational Research with Data Science, Operational Research with Risk, Statistics and Operational Research, Statistics with Data Science, Sustainable Energy Systems, Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology, Theoretical Physics.

Scholarship Award: The scholarships will cover the UK/EU tuition fee and any additional programme costs (APCs). The award of applicant scholarship will be automatically deducted from their tuition fee.

Number of Awards: A large number of Masters Scholarships are available for the 2017-2018 academic session at the University of Edinburgh.

Eligibility: Scholarships are available to UK nationals who are permanently domiciled in Scotland, as well as EU nationals (excluding UK nationals) domiciled in the EU or Scotland but not elsewhere in the UK, who have been accepted on an eligible full-time or part-time Master’s degree programme.

Nationality: Students of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom can apply for these master’s scholarships.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the benefits to the student. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain the international equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level.

English language/ Test Requirements: The University accepts all of the English language qualifications listed below

IELTS International English Language Testing System.
TOEFL-Ibt Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language Test.
PTE Pearson Test of English (Academic).
CAE Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English.
CPE Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.
Trinity ISE Trinity Integrated Skills in English.
